If you don’t know who Nelson Mandela is the first thing I should say is that he fought against the Apartheid regime in South Africa. This led him to be a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and he is a former president of South Africa.
On his fight against the Apartheid Mandela was imprisoned in 1963 and was released only in 1990. After being imprisoned for 27 years he was released, and in 1994 he became the first President of South Africa to be elected on a multi-racial election.
All his life he fought for freedom and equality of the South African people, improving the life of millions.
