Rachel Beckwith

The 9-year-old Rachel Beckwith was special. I am positive that she was special for innumerous reasons, but one that became well known was that by the age of 9, while most girls are thinking about winning a doll or a bicycle on their birthday, what she wanted as a birthday gift was for people to donate money to provide clean water in Africa.

She created a page on Charity Water: http://www.mycharitywater.org/p/campaign?campaign_id=16396

And her goal was to achieve $300 dollars on donations for her birthday. She was able to raise $220.

38 days later the unfortunate happened, Rachel was involved in a car accident that led to her death a couple days later.

East Lake Community Church (the church that Rachel’s family attends) was the first to tell people to help for the goal to be achieved. The goal was only $300 dollars. By now Rachel’s page has raised $1,265,823 dollars. 63,291 people on Africa already received help through donations on Rachel’s page. Be one of the people that helped this cause, donate any amount.

But before donating learn about the cause that the young Rachel was moved by:

  1. Rachel was an amazing girl, and will live on for many lifetimes with the gift of water she worked so hard to give. Part of her will live another life, as her liver has already been received by a child awaiting a transplant. She was only 9, but had grown her hair, and donated it when cut, for cancer patients wigs many times. For a little soul, who only lived 9 years, she truely has impacted more lives than many us can only dream of doing.
